Becks lends LA star power to pal Gordon's West Hollywood eaterie

5 JUNE 2008

It's his first restaurant in Los Angeles, so it wasn't surprising Gordon Ramsay was keen to enlist plenty of star power at the launch of his new eaterie in a West Hollywood hotel. So he'd called upon close pal and fellow Brit David Beckham to ensure the opening got underway in true star-studded style.

And LA-based Becks, dapper in a bow tie and waistcoat ensemble, seemed pleased with the opportunity to catch up with Gordon and his wife Tana at the event. He and the fiery Hell's Kitchen presenter struck up a friendship when the soccer ace asked Gordon to cater his and wife Victoria's pre-World Cup party in 2006.

While the Scottish chef has been busy branching out across the pond of late, it looks like his next venture could be a little closer to home. "I was recently in Edinburgh," he revealed, "and I would never turn down the possibility of opening up again in Scotland".(by:hellomagazine.com)

Tom joins screen talents lensing new projects in Europe and the US

5 JUNE 2008

While some A listers have already been spotted heading off on summer hols, others are busy getting stuck into new projects. The cameras are whirring on both sides of the pond this week as Tom Hanks, Katherine Heigl, Debra Messing and Jennifer Ellison film their latest offerings.

Reprising his Da Vinci Code role as Dr Robert Langdon in Angels And Demons, Tom, who filmed scenes for the original thriller in Paris, is back in Europe to work on the sequel.

This time the action plays out in Rome where Tom's character tries to solve a murder mystery and prevent a terrorist act against the Vatican. Also starring in the drama - due out in summer 2009 - is Ewan McGregor.

Over in California Emmy Award-winner Katherine Heigl was filming romcom The Ugly Truth, which stars hunky Gerard Butler as a TV show producer with romantic troubles. Another screen beauty also currently on location in the States is Debra Messing. The flame-haired Will And Grace actress took time out from filming TV comedy The Starter Wife on Thursday to enjoy an on-set visit from her four-year-old son Roman.

Meanwhile, back in the UK former Brookside beauty Jennifer Ellison has been spotted wearing a prosthetic baby bump as she records her role in crime show The Commander in sunny south London.(hellomagazine.com)

Mini Spice reunion as Mel B joins Geri and Emma at awards do

4 JUNE 2008

They said Goodbye earlier this year when their hugely-successful global comeback tour wrapped up in February, but there was a partial Spice Girls reunion this week when Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown attended a London magazine awards bash together.

The trio, who appeared to have coordinated their outfits, were the star attractions at the award bash - at which they picked up a gong honouring the band. Victoria Beckham, currently in the US after presenting an award at New York's CDFA Fashion Awards, and Mel C – who has been busy promoting her solo album This Time with a series of gigs – were unable to attend.

Geri and Mel sparkled, literally, in sequin- encrusted Las Vegas-style evening gowns. And Emma - who also went for a low-cut, floor-length number - showed off her new cropped 'do.

The youngest Spice Girl - who welcomed baby Beau with her pop singer partner Jade Jones nine months ago - wasn't the only talent debuting a new look at the ceremony, which recognises the achievements of women in TV, film, music, literature and business.

Collecting the coveted editor's choice award, Smile singer Lily Allen was unmissable, set apart by her candyfloss pink locks. The 23-year-old, who'd previously gone from brunette to blonde, admitted her striking new look was all her own work. "I did it myself in the bathroom," she revealed, adding: "I'm happy with it."
